THE NEED
  Tracking and managing production volumes in order to eliminate processing backlogs is a time consuming and cumbersome effort. People who are normally excellent at managing their work units are often not able to spend the time needed to conduct a backlog analysis. When time is not the issue, lack of experience usually is.
